SW1600 and Alpha 21164

Very little on the detail design of SW1600 chip was make public

but  various comments in the web and some history of the


indicate that SW has it original from the DEC alpha chip 21164

  • four-issues superscalar, two integer and two floating-point
  • integer pipeline is 7 stages long
  • floating-point pipleline is 10 stages long
  • 43-bit virtual address and 40-bit physical address
  • addressing of 8TB virtual memory and 1TB of physical memory
  • I$ and D$ 8KB
  • L2$ 96KB
  • 128-bit system bus

    Thanks for the very interesting information, I was great supporter of DEC Alpha, and I’m very glad to hear that IT and science people of China recognized Alpha great design and potential, and building on that base, obviously with great success!
