Solaris with T4

  • Accelerated Cryptography
  • Critical Thread Optimization: improve single thread performance
  • Multcore/Multithread awareness
  • Fine-granularity manageability (disable core/threads)
  • Biding interfaces: bind process with threads
  • Support V12N network and IO: 10GbE and PCIe
  • NUMA optimization
  • Memory placement optimization (MPO):Use  memory close to processor
  • Hierarchical Lgroup support: allocate nearest resources

Observation:

  • T4-2 is 3U and T4-1 is 2U not a good form factor for SPARCsuper cluster or exalogic these server were design before oracle takeover, may be in the future there will be some 1U  T5-1 or 2U T5-2 that should be good for integrated solution
  • yes T4-1B is 1U in blade form factor for exalogic, not sure how it play in SuperCluster
  • There is also no SPARC based server that can hold 3.5” HDD in 2U form factor e.g. x4275 M2
  • LJE keep taking about using Oracle own IP: HW and SW so Oracle need SPARC based Storage Cell
